LILLIAN IRENE COX TAPP WHITTEN, 87 years of age, died September 18, 2012 after a long illness. Lillian was born July 12, 1925 in Ashville, Alabama and was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Wayman “J.W.” Tapp, and Burnice “Whit” Hugh Allen Whitten. Her survivors include son, Johnny Wayne Tapp (Ann); daughter, Linda Kay Tapp Warrington; daughter, Sherri Lynn Tapp Canady Jones (Jerry), and their families. Visitation will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Saturday, September 22 from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that the memorial expressions be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
