Leslie Anne Boyd, also known professionally as Leslie Boyd-Lasley, 69, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2022 with her sisters, Gretchen and Kim, at her side. Leslie had suffered with Alzheimer’s for a prolonged period of time. She was a loving daughter, sister and aunt.
Leslie was born in Springfield, Ohio and lived there with her family until 1958, when they moved to Warner Robins, Georgia. From there, she moved with her family to Memphis, Tennessee where she attended Winchester Elementary School, Hillcrest High School, University of Tennessee Martin, and Memphis State University, earning a BBA and an MBA in accounting. Leslie was a CPA and enjoyed over 34 years of experience in public and private accounting. She worked with Arthur Andersen & Co. as senior accountant audit manager. She also worked with Holiday Inn in audit management and was Controller at Perkins Restaurant, Inc. Leslie was CFO at Memphis Jewish Home and CFO at Quality Life Communities - Memphis. She was inducted into the Academy of Women Achievers by the New York YWCA in 1989.
Leslie was a life blood donor and a life long Lutheran. She attended Ascension Lutheran Church and Lord of Life Lutheran Church, both of Memphis, Tennessee. Her deep faith in God and Jesus Christ was the foundation of her volunteer work in the church. She served on many committees, helped with accounting, payroll and other staff support. She was very active in the prayer shawl ministry and community outreach as well as being a group leader at Bible Study Fellowship in Memphis. She also served as a Volunteer Ombudsman Representative of the State Long Term Care Ombudsman Program. Leslie was a member of the Community Emergency Response Team for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
She lovingly cared for her sister Karen (cancer), her mother (Alzheimer’s) and her father (cancer and also heart disease).
She is predeceased by her father, Martin Boyd, her mother, Joan Boyd, and her sister, Karen Boyd. She is survived by her sisters Linda (Bob) Pineo of Portland Oregon, Gretchen (Mike) Mattingly of Germantown, Tennessee, and Kim Boyd Chapman of Franklin, Tennessee, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
• Visitation will be at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee on Wednesday, September 14 from 5PM - 7PM.
• A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 10AM at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 6865 Poplar Pike, Memphis, TN 38119 on Thursday, September 15.
• Graveside committal services will follow at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Road, Bartlett, Tennessee, where she will be laid to rest next to her sister, Karen.
