Kenneth Woodrow Thomas, 88, of Memphis, passed away September 3, 2013. He was born July 17, 1925, to the late James A. and Mabel Hildebrand Thomas. He was a Navy veteran, retiring at the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. He served during World War II in Britain, France, and Germany, and took part in the Navy occupation in Germany after the war. He then worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service until he retired. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Mary McGovern Thomas. He is survived by his son, Kenneth Patrick Thomas (Mary Hildebrand); his daughter, Patricia Marie Thomas; brother Bill Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and relatives at Family Funeral Care located on Summer Avenue, Sunday, September 8 from 5-7 PM. Funeral services will be 10 AM Monday, September 9 at Family Funeral Care. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his honor to the Salvation Army or Heifer International.
