Kathy Dills, 65, of Memphis passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018. Born in Memphis to William and Kathryn Dunlap, Kathy was the middle child of older brother, Mickey, and younger sister, Pam. A young spelling bee champ, she graduated from Messick High School then Miller Hawkins Business School. Kathy worked as a legal secretary then paralegal, devoting almost 50 years of her life to the Memphis legal community. She was highly respected among her peers and extremely dedicated to her clients. Throughout her life, Kathy enjoyed playing softball and volleyball, canoeing and camping, playing the piano and guitar, reading every book she could get her hands on, and raising her two daughters. She was always fun to be around, cracking jokes and finding the silver lining no matter the situation. She never met a stranger, treating everyone like a good friend. Kathy was smart, witty, and honest – a genuine and sincere mom, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be forever missed in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to have known her, especially those close to her. Kathy leaves behind two daughters, Carey Acerra (husband TJ Horne) and Anna Acerra; three grandchildren, Luke Hanna, Kate Horne, and Alex Horne; a sister, Pam McGan (husband Terry McGan); and a nephew, Jonathan McGan. With this obituary, the family wishes not to document her death but to celebrate her wonderful life. If you knew Kathy, the family would be honored if you attended the funeral services, which will be held at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue on Tuesday, November 20. Visitation is from 3:00 - 4:00 pm and services at 4:00 pm.
