Karen Christine Burson , age 62, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022. Karen Burson was proceeded in death by her father Edward I. Burson, her mother, Roberta J. Burson, her sister, Deborah Gardner, her son, Jamie Dean Vickers. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving son and best friend Samuel Edward “Eddie” Vickers, and her stepson Christopher Griffin. She also leaves behind her grand-dog which she called her “little stinker”, Smokey.
Her passion in life was to always be a good Christian and a genuinely kind, generous, loving, and compassionate person to anyone and everyone she ever met. She was an amazing cook. She would cook extra food on the holidays so that anyone that wanted to come get a plate would have some of her amazing food. She would stock the pantry with little debbie cakes, full size candy bars, and all sorts of treats and good things for all of her sons friends that would come over so they would always have something to snack on when they were in her home. None of them called her “Miss Karen” she was always called “momma” by so many. She was famous for her chicken and dressing recipe. It was so good that she always made two batches on the holidays because she wanted to make sure all her sons friends would always be able to come get plenty and they always did.
Another passion of hers was praying for others. She constantly prayed for everyone she knew and always put others needs before her own. She was an amazing mother that loved her sons more than anything in this world. She would have done anything for them and the never wanted while she was around. She would spend time with her son Eddie raising him as a single mom; playing catch with him, teaching him about life, riding bikes with him, and she loved to spend nights watching movies together with him all the time. She is the reason he is the man he is today. She spent a lot of time with her stepson Christopher teaching him how to cook all kinds of things, sitting outside watching him run routes and practice for football which she loved going to watch him play. She was a very special person and such an amazing woman. She was very talented. She could put an engine in a car, change her own oil, she could do it all if it was necessary. Nothing slowed her down no matter what the circumstance may be. She did not have “quit” in her. That was never an option. She was a medical transcriptionist for most of her adult life. Anyone that knew her and that ever got to see her type could not believe how fast and accurate she was. She typed faster than anyone had ever seen. It was so fast it would blow peoples minds. She had an amazing relationship with God and prayed all the time. If you knew her I guarantee she prayed for you because she prayed for everyone. She always put others first and loved hard. Anyone that knew her will tell you what an amazing, kind, selfless, humble, and loving person that she was. She was kind to everyone and loved and appreciated by so many. She loved watching her lifetime Christmas movies no matter what time of the year. She also loved watching some of her favorite shows like American Idol, The Voice, Wheel of Fortune (which she was so good at). She loved spending time with her grand-dog smokey throwing his ball, playing tug of war with his rope, and just loving him like another one of her children. He would sit on the back of the top of the recliner every single day and look out the window and listen for her truck to pull up so he could greet her as soon as she walked in the door. She was an amazing Christian and read her bible constantly.
She is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior. She has now been reunited with all of her family and loved ones in heaven and I can only imagine what a celebration that was!! No more suffering, worrying, and no more pain. She can finally rest and be at peace. She is HOME at last!! Everyone said she was just like her mom; an angel to all with a never ending smile on her face and a pure heart with kindness towards all!! Now she is truly a beautiful and amazing guardian angel looking down over all of us. She will be so dearly missed by so many but she will never be forgotten.
