Judy Crain Benten died at her home in Memphis on May 4, 2010. She was born on September 3, 1948 in Memphis, Tennessee to John Enochs and Mary Edith Siler Crain. She graduated from Wilson High School in Wilson, Arkansas. She graduated from Little Rock University now the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She married John Barry Benten on June 23, 1973 in Wilson Arkansas. While at LRU, she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. After graduating she taught second grade at Hazen, Arkansas, Elementary School. She lived in Little Rock, Arkansas, until her marriage and moved to Memphis, Tennessee where she was a member of Les Passees and a volunteer at the Women’s Exchange. She loved people and enjoyed travel especially cruises. She loved her dogs and leaves behind her precious companion, Pollyanna. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, John Barry Benten; her sisters: Mary Ann Rose /Williams of Blytheville, Arkansas; Nancy Crain Balton of Wilson, Arkansas; Susan Crain Railsback of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and her brother John Enochs Crain , Jr. of Jonesboro, Arkansas. She also leaves a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar on Friday, May 7th from 5 until 8 p.m. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 8th at the Memphis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. at Bassett Cemetery, Bassett, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Memphis or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
