Joseph Russell Brown

Joseph Russell Brown, Sr., 78, a lifelong Memphian died Friday, December 9, 2011. The owner of Communication Systems, Inc., Mr. Brown was a communicant at St. Brigid Catholic Church, past president of the former Bella Vista Country Club, WWII Army veteran and a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. Besides his family, his two greatest passions in life were playing golf and spending time on his boat. The Rosary will be read on Tuesday, December 13, beginning at 5PM with visitation to follow until 8PM all at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, December 14 beginning at 10AM at St. Brigid Catholic Church located at 7801 Lowrance Road, Memphis, TN 38125. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his sister Helen Marie Lenti and brother Lawrence Urban Brown, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Artie G. Brown; daughters Mary Catherine “Cathy” Brown, Paula Ann Brown Jones, and Theresa Brown Williams; sons Joseph Russell “Russ” Brown, Jr. and Raymond Anthony “Tony” Brown; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
