John Ross Whitten

Johnny R Whitten, 74, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2016 in Bartlett, TN. He was a retired truck driver and a beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle. Johnny also enjoyed road trips with his family to the Smokey Mountains. He was preceded in death by loving wife, Elizabeth C. Whitten, which was also a beloved mother, grandmother and aunt; son, Stephen P. Whitten; parents, Charlie M. and Madge L. Whitten; brothers, Charles Whitten, Jerry W. Whitten; two sisters, Ava Whitten Jenkins and Norma Whitten Duke. Johnny is survived by one daughter, Sarah Whitten Nowell; one son, John B. Whitten; one sister, Linda Whitten Goolsby; four brothers, Harold R. Whitten, Sr., David E. Whitten, J.W. Whitten, and Robert G. Whitten; four grandchildren, Caleb A. Whitten-Bugg, Cyleigh E. Bugg, John D. Nowell, Katelynn N. Nowell; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. The family will be celebrating the reunion of Johnny and Elizabeth in eternal life Sunday, March 6 at Family Funeral Care. 4925 Summer Ave. Guests are invited to visit with family from 12 to 2 pm and their joint service beginning at 2 pm. Everyone is invited to join the family for refreshments and fellowship afterwards at the home of his niece Cindy Almazan, 1013 Waring, Memphis, TN.
