John Kenneth (Ken) Jack, 85, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Baptist Hospital following a brief illness. A devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Uncle. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Jacqueline Moore and Marilyn Jack. He leaves his wife of 61 years, Betty, his Brother Michael (Ann), his Brother-in-Law William C. Moore, his Daughter, Mary Shelley - Grandsons Jack and Cole Ritchey, his Son, Evans (Kendall) and Grandsons Davis and Dex Jack, his nieces and many cousins. He graduated from Central High School, and The University of Tennessee. Ken proudly served in the U.S. Army. His professional career spanned across 7 decades. Ken “The Piano Man” dedicated his life to serving his Church (Idlewild) and The Memphis Union Mission where he played the piano each week for Chapel Services. He also loved playing the organ at his beloved Horseshoe Lake, AR when he attended St. Mary’s of The Lake. He shared his gift of music and love of life with so many people. Ken was an avid outdoorsman and loved running, racquetball, water skiing, canoeing, scouting, and coaching. Most of all, he loved people and getting to know them and their story.
A visitation for John will be held Friday, September 16, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, Tennessee 38119. A graveside service will occur Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 9:30 AM at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 11458 TN-59, Mason, TN 38049. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 11:30 AM at Idlewild Presbyterian Church, 1750 Union Ave., Memphis, TN 38104.
