John Samuel Bowers of Memphis, TN, 71 years of age, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023. John was born in Memphis, TN and was a graduate of Christian Brothers High School. He later graduated from Diesel Mechanic School and then proceeded to a successful forty-year career at Ryder where he met many friends. He was preceded in death by his father Milton Bowers, Jr, his mother Marie Gaia Bowers, his two sons John Bowers and Brian Bowers, and his brother Steve Bowers.
John was a devoted family man who enjoyed vegetable gardening, fishing with his grandsons and friends, as well as enjoying spending time with his devoted dog Ollie. He is survived by his daughter, Gina Bowers, his grandchildren Jacob Bowers, Calin McClanahan, Tristian McClanahan, Melody Wolfle, and Lilly Wolfle, his great-grandchildren Raylin McClanahan and Hayden Jordan, his niece Courtney McMahon (Ross) and nephew Michael Bowers.
Celebration of Life services will be Monday, August 7, 2023. Visitation will be from 9:00am until 10:00am with funeral service immediately following at 10:00am at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Avenue, Memphis, TN. The interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery located at 1663 Elvis Presley Blvd, Memphis, TN.
