Joanne Catherine Whalen

Joanne Catherine Whalen, 61, of Memphis, TN, passed away with family by her side on Friday, October 20th, 2018. Joanne, the youngest and feistiest of 4 siblings, was born in Georgia and grew up in Lake Charles, LA. She was a strong and bold woman who fought hard right until her last days. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren and loved nothing more than spending time with her husband and their family. Joanne was outspoken and had a great sense of humor, and she was also creative and hardworking. Joanne is survived by her loving husband, Timothy, her daughter, Samantha, her sons, Jeremy and Randy, her grandchildren, Beau, Will, Grace, David, Drew, and Sawyer. She is also survived by her brother, Bill and his wife, Theresa, and many nieces, nephews and extended family who adored her. Joanne was preceded in death by her father, Willie Samuel Phillips, her mother, Phyllis Joan Phillips, and her sisters Wendy Phillips Bourque and Kay Phillips Harris. The memorial service will be held on Friday, October 26th, at 6:15pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 1971 Jackson Ave, Memphis, TN, 38107 with a gathering in her memory in the parish hall to follow the service.
