Joan Marie Leathers

Joan Marie Edelmuth Leathers, age 76, passed away on Thursday evening, February 26, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Collierville, TN. She was indeed surrounded by loving friends and family. Joan was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 10, 1939 to Josepha Edelmuth Matheron and David L. Edelmuth, both deceased. Joan had a successful career in real estate in Memphis and Germantown and was known for her quick wit and caring ways. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Joan is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, William J. (Bill) Leathers and two sons, William Joseph (Joe) Leathers ( wife Jane), and Kevin Michael Leathers all of Germantown, Tennessee, as well as numerous nephews and nieces and a host of treasured friends. Joan is also survived by her twin brother, David Michael Edelmuth (wife Kathleen), Memphis, and Patricia Ann Schwartz of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was very proud of her six grandchildren, O’Neal Leathers, Grace Leathers, Kate Leathers, Eli Leathers, Sam Leathers and Abby Leathers. The family extends gratitude to the outstanding staff at Baptist Collierville for the superior care and service provided to Joan and her loved ones during this difficult time. Visitation will be held at 10:30AM one hour prior to the 11:30 AM services at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic, 8151 Poplar Avenue, Germantown, TN. with interment to follow. Donations in Joan’s memory will be welcomed at The Ave Maria Home, 2805 Charles Bryan Road, Bartlett, Tennessee 38134.
