JESS DAVID DOTSON, 59, died peacefully Wednesday, May 29, 2013, after years of battling a long illness. Jess was born in Clintwood, VA, March 6, 1954, the oldest son of Cecil and Sadaro Dotson. He graduated from Umatilla High School, Umatilla, FL in 1972. He served his country in the Army from 1972-1975 and was stationed in Germany as an MP. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Science from Aquinas Junior College in Nashville in 1979 and received his Bachelor’s Degree in organization management in 1998 from Creighton College in Memphis. Jess was a Registered Respiratory Therapist for over 25 years working at Methodist Hospital, LeBonheur and UT Bowld. Jess was a member of Temple Baptist Church of Olive Branch, MS. He enjoyed sports once active in racquetball, softball, and snow skiing. Jess was a devoted, loving husband to his wife, Pamela Maxey Dotson and together they shared a love of golf, Memphis Tigers football and basketball and Redbirds baseball. He will be remembered fondly for his wonderful sense of humor and kindhearted spirit. In addition to Pam, his wife of 19 years, Jess is survived by his mother, Sadaro Dotson of Altoona, FL; two brothers, Jack Dotson of Eustis, FL and John Dotson (Robyn) of Altoona, FL; three sisters, Glenna Amburgey of Tavares FL, Sherri Jackson (Craig) of Gulf Shores, AL, and Joy Hohman (Jim) of Tavares, FL. The family will receive friends at Memphis Funeral Home, Poplar Avenue, Friday, May 31 from 5-7 p.m. and a memorial service will be held Saturday, June 1, 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Ronald McDonald House of Memphis.
