In the early, early morning of July 2, while everyone was asleep, our lovely and beautiful Janet unexpectedly and silently slipped away from all of us. We did not know that she was leaving. Without an explanation, the Lord called Janet home and she was only 53. Janet is survived by her husband Allen Maroon, her father Thomas Helt, her son Johnathan Taylor, her sister Betty Hutchinson, and her dear friends Didier and Claude Crepin (and all of the Crepin children and grandchildren) of Le Rayol Canadel Sur Mer, France. Janet worked for many years as a cashier in several grocery stores in East Memphis and Bartlett. Janet was the beautiful face that customers would first see at the grocery store. She was known and loved by hundreds of people. Her smile and laugh and her kindness were so wonderful. Everywhere Janet went – Hot Springs, New Orleans, Gulf Shores-someone would always know Janet. Thirteen years ago Janet first went to the French and Italian Riviera and the Riviera instantly loved Janet. Whenever she would arrive at the Nice airport someone would usually call her by name and welcome her back to France. If anyone ever deserved to vacation on the Riviera, it was Janet. During the thirteen years that Janet traveled to the Riviera, she made many friends in Le Rayol Canadel and Le Lavandou, France and in Sanremo Italy. Fortunately, Janet was able to live in Le Lavandou from September until December 2012. It was her dream come true. As beautiful as the Riviera is, in so many ways Janet was its most beautiful and precious flower and she will be forever missed by so many. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. and the funeral service on Sunday at 2 p.m., both at Memphis Funeral Home 5599 Poplar Ave.
