Jake Aron Mitchell

MITCHELL, SGT. JAKE ARON, 34, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014 at home after a 4 year battle with cancer. Jake never gave up – he fought to the very end. He was determined not to let cancer win, but it did. Jake was a member of the Mississippi Army National Guard. He leaves to celebrate his life, his mother Patricia McGrath Goforth; sisters Tiffany Thomas Merritt (Greg) of Nesbit, MS, Tammy Thomas Shepard (Hiram, Jr.) of Germantown, TN, Tammy Mitchell Boles (Dave) of Havre, MT and his brother and best buddy, Benjamin Mitchell of Franklin, TN. He also leaves 3 nieces, Hannah Merritt, Michaela Boles, Janae Boles; and 4 nephews, Logan, Zachary and Landon Shepard and Jerod Boles. He was predeceased by his father, Clinton B. Mitchell. According to Jake’s wishes, a party will be held at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar on Monday, August 25, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. with services on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Noon. Burial will take place at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Forest Hill Irene Rd. The family would like to give special thanks to Justin Dennis and Andy Busby for their constant support for Jake during his last days.
