Jack Burns Brown, age 95, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021. Jack was born February 17, 1926, in Osceola, Arkansas to Ruby L. Holloway and John W. Reed. The family lived in several locations in Arkansas, California, and Tennessee. He joined the U.S. Navy and entered into World War II immediately after graduation from Chattanooga High School, in 1944. Jack was very proud of being a WWII veteran and a member of the greatest generation.
Jack was discharged from the Navy in Washington State where he became a butcher. He met Eunice Buck in Sandpoint, Idaho and they would later marry in 1947 and make their home in Memphis, where they raised two children. Jack would become owner of WeOna Number 22, which later became Silver Savers #22, at the corner of Lamar and Airways where he worked 41 years.
His passion away from work was golfing and yard work. Later in life he became a fixture on his front porch, waving and talking to everyone. He was a member of Colonial Baptist Church since 1955.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Eunice; son, Joe (Rose Ann); grandchildren, Ashley Wachenschwanz (Scotty), Shawn Clement (Amanda), Jennifer Brown, Melissa Brown; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and 2 on the way in 2022. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; daughter, Jacqueline Ann Brown Clement; brother, Paul Brown; and sister, Nedra Brown Palmer.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 3 from 1:00 PM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM, all at Memphis Funeral Home - Poplar Chapel. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery will be private.
