Beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend
Hugh Wayne Joyner, 87, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 20, 1936, in Millington, TN, to the late Elsie Childress and Elbert Joyner. He graduated from Messick High in Memphis and was a veteran of the US Army. He was a long-time employee of General Electric. He was married to the love of his life, Eve, for 52 wonderful years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who greatly enjoyed spending time with his family. He was also a generous and kind-hearted man and a devoted follower of Christ. He served as an usher at Bellevue Baptist Church for many years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Eve; his children, Kacie Joyner Cooper (Stephen) and Jennifer Joyner Murphy (Chuck); his grandchildren, Timothy Wayne, Courtney, Jackson, Isaac, Mary Ella, Joshua and Sarah Katherine. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Thomas and Jerry.
A visitation for Hugh will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122, followed by a celebration of life from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
