Harvey Franklin Greer, Sr.

Harvey Franklin Greer, Sr. died peacefully on Wednesday, August 17th at Methodist Hospice Residence. Frank was born on July 1st, 1935 to Fara Mae and Wallace Houston Greer. He leaves one brother, Farrell “Sonny” Greer (Frances, deceased) of Dixon, TN and their children, Mike, Donna, David, Marsha, Steve and Sharon (deceased). Frank also had one sister, Beth Carol Greer Jones (Raymond) both deceased and their daughter, Susanne Jones.

Frank graduated from Humes High School in 1953. He attended Southwestern College for his freshman year and then served two years in the Army, stationed in Paris, France as a cryptologist. Frank received his Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Accounting at Memphis State University. He and Nancy Fisher married in December 1960 and have two sons, Harvey Franklin “Chip” Jr. (Diana)- their children, Jordan, Jack, and Aubrey, and Charles Houston “Hugh” (Lisa)- their children, Knox and Erin.

Frank loved the University of Memphis where he taught accounting part-time and enjoyed following both the football and basketball teams for many years. He served as President of many organizations including Memphis State Business Alumni Association, Memphis Chapter of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, Memphis Chapter of the National Association of Accountants and the East Memphis Exchange Club. He was employed many years with E.H. Crump Company where he eventually became Treasurer of the company.

Visitation will be held at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave in Memphis, from 5-7pm on Friday, August 19th. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 20th at 11am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at Bartlett United Methodist Church, 5676 Stage Road in Bartlett. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family asks that donations be made to the Wolf River Conservancy, P.O.
