On Friday, January 11, 2019 Gary Gene Johnson of Bartlett, Tennessee went to be with the Lord at the age of 79. Gary was co-owner of Post Printing Company for 41 years. At the age of 27 he was ordained as a deacon at Bellevue Baptist Church where he faithfully served for 58 years. He taught 5th grade boys Sunday School and was a substitute teacher in the children’s department for many years. He could be found every Sunday at the front door greeting others with his infectious smile.
He loved music of all kinds, especially bluegrass. He was often laughing and singing and he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He had the gift of mercy and was kind hearted to everyone.
Gary is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pat, and his two children, Janet (Larry) Watson, and Ruston (Amy). He will be lovingly remembered by his seven grandchildren, Allie, Natalie, Mackenzie, Hollie, Harper, Sutton, and Grier. He will also be fondly remembered by his sisters, Shirley (Jerry) Williams, and Vicky (John) Adams and his brothers John (Fran) and Billy (Gloria).
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 14, at 1:00 pm in the chapel at Bellevue Baptist Church, 2000 Appling Road, Cordova, Tennessee. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Interment will be on Tuesday, January 15, at 1:00 pm, at Zion Cemetery in Obion County, Tennessee.
