Cordova, TN
Age 55, passed away May 25, 2017. She was born in Winston-Salem, NC on December 16, 1961 and grew up in High Point, NC. She attended High Point Central High School and then UNC-Chapel Hill where she received her M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology. She moved to Memphis with her family in 1992.
In her professional career, she worked as a speech-pathologist for several organizations in the Memphis area, primarily focusing on helping children and adults with special needs. She was a tireless advocate for the patients she served and the disadvantaged.
Although the last few weeks had been difficult for her, we take comfort in the wonderful life that we shared with her and how she touched so many friends and family with her gentle kindness. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend to us all. Among the many things she enjoyed were cheering for the UNC Tar Heels and Memphis Grizzlies basketball teams, scuba diving, traveling, and her family. We had many great adventures with her that will live forever in our memory.
Frances is survived by her husband of 33 years, Robert "Robbie" B. Parker; son, Michael S. Parker, and daughter, Sara E. Parker, all of Memphis, TN; and her parents, Henry and Marjorie Jennings. She was predeceased by her brother, Steven Jennings.
Visitation with the family will be on Thursday June 1 from 6-8 p.m. and memorial service at 10 a.m. on Friday June 1, all at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials in her honor be made to one of the following organizations: Dive Pirates (https://divepirates.org), Fugees Family (http://www.fugeesfamily.org), or SRVS Shelby Residential and Support Services (http://www.srvs.org).
