

Ervin L. Montgomery, 74 passed away May 10, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. He retired from the Memphis Area Transit Authority after 38 years of service; was a member of Hope Baptist Church in Olive Branch, MS and an avid Memphis Tigers and Memphis Grizzlies fan. He also liked rock and roll music with his favorite being Elvis Presley. Mr. Montgomery was known as a very caring person with a big heart; he loved God and His Family most of all. He was predeceased by his parents, Lonnie E. and Ola Mae Hughes Montgomery, his sister, Wilma Bennett (spouse James C. Bennett survives). He is survived by his best friend and wife of 46 years, Brenda L. Montgomery; one son, David Montgomery; daughter in law Cindy Montgomery; granddaughter and love of his life, Madison Grace Montgomery; sister, Sadie Nash (spouse John Nash predeceased); many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and very special family members, Jerome and Linda Carver. The family will receive guests for the sharing of stories, refreshments and memories on Wednesday, May 13 at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel from 5-8 p.m. A service to celebrate Mr. Montgomery’s life will be held Thursday, May 14 at 2 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Southwoods. In lieu of flowers gifts in memory of Mr. Montgomery may be offered to Hope Baptist Church, Olive Branch, MS.
