Ervin McKay passed away Monday, August 20 at the age of 90. He was born May 26, 1928, to the late Ervin and Lena McKay in Uriah, Alabama. He graduated from Gulfport High School in Gulfport, Mississippi and from the University of Mississippi with BBA and LLB degrees. He also attended graduate school at George Washington University. At Ole Miss, he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and was selected to the Law Journal, Pi Kappa Pi, Delta Sigma Pi and Omicron Delta Kappa. He retired from the Finance Division of the City of Memphis. Ervin served in the Army during World War II and the Air Force during the Korean War, earning his way through college and law school. At the time of his death, he had been a faithful member of Germantown United Methodist Church and the Gilbert Sunday School Class for over 28 years. His lifelong love for the Ole Miss Rebels never waned in his 90 years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan McKay; his son Ken McKay (Julie) of Houston, Texas; his daughter Susan Biddy (Brad) of Roswell, Georgia; grandchildren Drew, Jack and William McKay and Rachel, Will and Shannon Biddy; and brother, Daniel McKay (Pat) of Ft. Worth, Texas. Ervin was predeceased by his parents, Ervin and Lena McKay and siblings Ellis McKay, Edward McKay, Chester McKay and Esther Lott. Services will be Saturday, August 25, at Germantown United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 11:00. A family burial ceremony at the Byhalia, Mississippi cemetery will be held later that day. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to Germantown United Methodist Church or the Ervin McKay Scholarship Fund at the University of Mississippi Foundation, 406 University Ave., Oxford Mississippi 38655.
