Ernestine Watkins was born in Olive Branch, Mississippi on December 2, 1949. Affectionately known by her childhood nickname – “Tina”, she was the daughter of Louella Stewart Watkins and Johnnie Watkins Sr. On September 19, 1977, Ernestine married Kenneth W. Watkins and they enjoyed 43 years of
marriage.
Ernestine was the loving mother of 2 daughters (Trina L. Watkins and Topaza Watkins-Edmond). She has a granddaughter - Allyson Elaine Watkins.
Ernestine was also a dearly beloved sister to 7 brothers (John Jr., Larry, Bruce, Willie, Gary, DC & David) and 2 sisters (Annie Rose Ivory and Peggy Jennings). She enjoyed raising and being called “Aunt Tina & Mom” to her nieces (Julia and Teya’); as well as dearly loving her additional nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family friends and the many others that she took under her wings and helped within her Holy Trinity C.O.G.I.C. community.
Ernestine retired as a Labor Union Facilitator from Cummins Recon after 40+ years of service. She was also an extremely gifted professional seamstress and interior decor specialist with loyal clients that she loved providing alterations, custom clothing design, tailoring and interior drapery design/manufacturing services.
Ernestine Watkins passed away peacefully while inpatient at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
The legacy of Missionary Ernestine Watkins will continue through the thousands of lives that she was blessed to impactfully.
