Emma Sue Herning, age 86, of Collierville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2021. Sue was born December 3, 1934 in Bradford, Arkansas to Gladys and Ernie Goad. She was a Navy wife to the late Commander Robert Eugene Herning.
She and her late husband were talented and graceful dancers enjoying ballroom dancing, square dancing, and line dancing. Sue was early adopter of computers and other consumer electronics. One of her greatest joys was watching her grandchildren play the latest games and game systems. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, reading, puzzles, clogging, and shopping.
Sue leaves behind her two daughters, Cyndi Lamont (Doug) and Sandra Dorothy (Willis) and four grandchildren, Benjamin Dorothy, Christine Lamont, Andrew Dorothy and Audrey Lamont. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Lou Herring. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Ken, Ernestine, and Doyle.
We will miss her very much. Her family will host a gathering to remember Sue and to celebrate a well lived life on Friday, August 13 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119.
