Emily Lowry (Tooley) Samuels, 72, passed away on February 26th, 2023, in Somerville, TN. She was born on September 13, 1950, to the late Emily Dee and William Titus Lowry of Byhalia, MS, and was the wife of the late Thomas Gary Samuels of Collierville, TN. Emily was a Social Worker who dedicated her life to helping others in all phases of life. She spent time helping families of premature babies at the Newborn Center at the Med, assisted in adoptions at Hannah’s Hope, established a counseling center at Collierville United Methodist Church, and helped people through their final days with Methodist Healthcare Hospice. She is survived by her two sons and their families, Blaine Tooley of Collierville, TN (Lesley, Grayson, Sam, and Lyla), Brett Tooley of Abingdon, VA (Priscilla, Shelby, and Cecelia), her brother Mac Lowry of Starkville, MS (Beverly), her cousin Luanne Lewis of Little Rock, AR (Steve, Drew (Lily, Owen) and Lindsay), and her stepchildren, Bri Samuels Jackson of Hernando, MS (Chris) and Matt Samuels of Hernando, MS. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 4th at Collierville United Methodist Church, 454 W. Poplar Ave at 1:00pm with funeral ceremony following at 2:00pm. Donations can be made to Hannah’s Hope of Memphis or Stephen Ministry at Collierville United Methodist Church.
