Elmer Glenn Fox- age 72 passed away on the morning of January 2, 2022 at his residence in Memphis, Tennessee. Elmer was born on October 27,1949 to the late Richard and Earline Fox. in Slate Springs, Mississippi in 1949. Elmer's parents later moved to Memphis, Tennessee and he grew up in the northern part of the city. He graduated from Manassas High school and enlisted in the U. S. Army. During that tour he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. Upon completion his tour of active duty receiving and Honorable Discharge, Elmer returned home to Memphis and found employment with Firestone Tire and Rubber Company (where he worked until the Memphis Plant closed). Afterwards, his place of employment (until he retired) was with USPS. After retirement, Elmer spent some time fishing and bowling. In February of 1988 Elmer met and married the love of his life, Shirley Wright of Memphis, TN. To this union, they blended 6 children, Felicia (Cornelius) Anthony, Memphis, TN, Lacy (Shannon) Hill, Memphis, TN., Andre Fox (Milwaukee, WA), Jennifer (Leamon) Osborne, Memphis, TN, April Fields, Memphis, TN. and Tameka Fox, Memphis, TN. To cherish his memories, he leaves behind three brothers, Levon (Lori) Fox of Gardena, Ca, Clem Earl Fox of Cincinnati, Ohio, Leon (Patricia)Foxx of Memphis, TN and one sister, Elsie Thomas of Memphis, TN., seventeen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren., aunts, uncles and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Anyone who met Elmer soon discovered that he had an intense love for the Lord. He was a member of the Word of Life SDA Church in Memphis, where he served as an Elder and a Sabbath School teacher. He was very active in the Prison Ministry conducting Bible studies with the inmates, he was dedicated to serving the Homeless community He loved and supported Christian education, volunteering his service when and wherever needed with Greater Memphis Adventist Academy.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, January 13th at the Word of Life SDA Church located 1215 Floyd Avenue, Memphis TN. The visitation will be from 10:30-11:25. Funeral 11:30- 1pm and the Burial will be held at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd, Memphis, TN.
