On June 26, 2021, Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Brands Ashcraft of Cordova, TN, went to be with her Savior Jesus Christ after battling cancer for a year and breaking her hip in recent weeks. Her unwavering faith and the support of family and friends sustained her through this difficult time, and her family is forever grateful.
Liz was born in Ulm, Arkansas, on October 12, 1933, to her late parents John and Eugenia Brands. She was married to her late husband, Charles “Peanut” Richard Ashcraft, for 54 years and had two older sisters – Onita (Jinx) Kimes and Betty (Rhett) Oliphant – all deceased.
Charlie and Liz met and lived in Stuggart, AR, until they moved to West Helena, AR, in 1963. In July 1976, they with their daughters relocated to New Orleans, LA, where they remained until retiring and moving to Hot Springs, AR, in 1996. After her husband’s death, Liz moved to Cordova, TN, to live with her daughter and son-in-law, who cared for her until her passing.
Liz loved the Lord, God’s Word, and her family. In her last years, she spent much of her time praying for others, reading the Word, memorizing scripture, and being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her twin daughters and their husbands, Jamie (Jerry) Trisler of Gonzales, LA, and Amy (Ricky) Barron of Cordova, TN.
In addition to her daughters and their husbands, Liz is also survived by her three grandchildren and their spouses – grandson, Jonathan (Rebekah) Barron; granddaughter, Rebekah (Elliot) Jeffries; and granddaughter, JoHelen Trisler. Liz also has five great-grandchildren: Darby Jeffries, Adam Barron, Elijah “Eli” Jeffries, Joshua Jeffries, and Elizabeth Jeffries.
Liz has two nephews, Nat (Rita) Kimes and Steve (Donna) Kimes, and two nieces, Kim (Tommy) Oliver and the late Kandy (Kenny) Gray.
Honorary pallbearers include Mike Anderson, Kourtney Gray, Will Hahn, Scout Kimes, Greg Komendanchik, Lane Oliver, Loren Oliver, Darren Walker, Jerry White, Max Whitman, and Dr. David Wilson, her former pastor.
