Dorothy Butler “Dottye” Vincent, 90, passed away peacefully in her home on April 17, 2024. Miss Dottye was known for loving her family and friends and her famous Cinnamon Bundt Cake, affectionally known as “Crack Cake”.
Dottye began her life on September 25, 1933 in Ripley, Tennessee as the youngest daughter of Annie and Willie Butler. She grew up in South Memphis and graduated from Whitehaven High School in 1951. Dottye was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church for over 60 years. She enjoyed cooking
for family and friends, sharing a cup of coffee and iced tea with everyone and all holidays which involved a family gathering.
Dottye was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, George Vincent, her sisters, Louise Butler McKinney and Billie Ann Butler Anderson and her brother, William Edward Butler.
She leaves her daughter,Karen and son-in law, Wilson Meredith; Her son, John Vincent and her daughter-in-law, Michelle. Her daughter, Tami and her son-in-law, Dave Shepard. She leaves her daughter-in-law, Susan Robertson Vincent. Her six grandchildren, Brian Meredith, Nicholas Meredith, John Vincent (Andrea), Caroline Vincent Balton (Patrick), Madison Shepard Robertson (Wes) and Meg Shepard and 3 great granddaughters Emi, Grace and Charlotte. She leaves extended family, Cathy Meredith, Curt Parker, and Mere Exelbierd. Dottye leaves many great friends, wonderful nieces and nephews and fabulous neighbors who she truly loved and appreciated.
She was loved by all, and she loved all. To quote her “Ain’t love grand!”.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Agnes Academy or WKNO (PBS).
A visitation for Dottye will be held Monday, April 22, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church, 3863 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. A mass of christian burial will follow immediately starting at 10:30 followed by a committal service at Calvary Cemetery, 1663 Elvis Presley Blvd, Memphis, TN 38106.
