Dorothy R. Hughes

Dorothy Ramsbottom Hughes, 86 passed away July 1, 2014 surrounded by her family at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House. She was educated in the Memphis school system and graduated from Memphis Tech High School.

She was active in Memphis as a member of the Duration Club, Memphis Cotton Wives, the University Club and many school programs for her children. Mrs. Hughes lived a very full life in her role as a mother. She was a member of Germantown Baptist Church.

She is predeceased by her daughters Joanie Moore and Betsy Ramsbottom; brothers Dr. Donald Meador and Danny Meador.

She is survived by her husband M.H. Walls; two daughters, Judy (Joe) Bracken of Leawood KS, and Donna (Joe) Lucchesi; one son David (Cindy) Ramsbottom all of Germantown; grandchildren Joey (Kendall) Lucchesi, Jeanice (Jeffrey) Spencer, Rachel Ramsbottom, Robert (Kelsey) Ramsbottom, Richard (Caryn) Bracken, Jimmy Moore III, and Kristen Moore.

The family will receive friends at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel on Thursday July 3,2014 beginning at 5 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 6 p.m. Burial will be at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at a later date. The family request in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Church Health Center, Baptist Reynolds Hospice House or the charity of choice.
