Doris Anne Longmire was born on October 21, 1948 in Indianola, Mississippi to Alice Lee Harris Barges and William “Dub” Longmire. She departed at the age of 74 after a long fought battle on September 29, 2023. She was a former employee of the V.A. Hospital of Memphis.
Doris Anne Longmire was preceded in death by her parents William and Alice, her sister Janice Ward, her brothers Ivan Longmire and Eardeal Glass Sr., her “Big Bubba, No Trouble” Alfred Stubbs, and her “Pookie” Jimmy Hayes Porterfield.
She leaves behind her four children Dennis Hill, Paula Hill, Margaret Hill, and Rueben Hill. Per Margaret Hill she leaves behind two grandchildren, Kymberlee Rucks and Sommer Rucks. Per Rueben Hill she leaves behind, as written by his wishes, a whole host of grandchildren. In addition, Doris Anne also leaves behind her sisters Eva Jones [Clarence], Barbara Hullum [Otis] and Brenda Murphy along with brothers Michael Longmire, Vernon Longmire and Timothy Longmire. She also leaves behind numerous family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Doris Anne Longmire’s pre-party (wake) will be Oct 20, (her dad’s birthday) at Family Funeral Care on 4925 Summer Avenue in Memphis TN from 4 to 7 pm. The party to celebrate her life will be Oct 21st (which is also her birthday) with a viewing starting from 1 to 2pm and the party opener (her funeral) beginning at 2 before her party commences.
