Donald D. Smith

He was preceded in death by his parents Hugh and Hazel Smith, sister Shirley Reese, brothers Ralph Smith and Jim Smith, and one grandson Joshua Smith.

He served in the Navy during the Korean war on the Destroyer USS Walton from 1952-1955. He was a gunner’s mate on the first warship to enter Nagasaki after the atomic bomb.

He was a licensed plumber for many years living in Kearney Nebraska. He became a successful sales representative for multiple food brokers. When he retired from the hospitality industry, Don and Maxine managed several self-storage facilities in the Texas area. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church of Bartlett.

Those left to remember his life include his wife of 65 years Maxine Smith of Memphis, one brother Robert Smith of North Platte, Nebraska , 3 sons Kelly (Gayle) of Bartlett, Calvin (Stephania) of Cleburne Texas, Kevin (Lora) of Wylie Texas.

Grandchildren: Rebekah, Mari-Parker, Sawyer, Paxton, Blaykin, Madison, Mackensie, Lexi, Levi, Sophie, Saylir, Mayson, Taylor, Ryan, Aaron, Kaitlynn.

Great-Grandchildren: Hatcher, Jaxon.

The family requests any memorials be sent to Providence Baptist Church building fund, 4351 North Germantown Road, Arlington Tennessee, 38002 in memory of Donald Smith.
