Davijean, (Dava) was preceded in death by the love of her life, and her best friend, her husband of 63 years, Don Cook. Dava was also preceded in death by her father, David Mack Barrow and her mother Katherine Cloinger Barrow.
Dava is survived by her two sons, Steve Cook (Mary Phelps Cook) and David Cook (Mary Bayless Cook). Dava also has six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
While Dava did hold various positions outside the home to include a teacher's aide to special needs children, a telephone operator, and bank clerk; she was primarily a homemaker and mother dedicated to raising two, of the finest most well behaved boys and young men - model children for sure! They only lacked for a sense of humor and a deficiency in sarcasm.
Dava enjoyed gardening and always longed to “have her hands in the dirt” in her words. She was the kind of mother and grandparent that you could not leave her home without a box or bag of goodies.
Dava was a devout Christian and instilled those values in her children and grandchildren. She truly loved the Lord and shared that love frequently with others.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 5 beginning at 11:00 AM until the funeral service at 12:00 PM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN. A reception will immediately follow, at the funeral home.
It is Dava's wish, that if desired, a memorial donation be made to Calvary Rescue Mission, 960 S. Third Street, Memphis, TN 38106 (901) 775-2570, www.CalvaryRescueMission.org”.
