Charles "Ray" Philpot, 72, of Memphis, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, November 5, 2021. Ray was a lifelong Memphian. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served as a medical corpsman during the Vietnam War. Ray was a member of Macon Road Church of Christ. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Kathleen (Dorman) and Charles "Charlie" Philpot, Jr. of Memphis, his sister Dorothy Philpot-Williams of Memphis and his brother Alan Philpot of Memphis. Ray is survived by his sister Linda (Gene) Shepard of Memphis, his sister Teresa (Rick) Philpot-Johnson of Des Allemands, LA, and his uncle, Buddy Dorman. A gathering of friends will take place on Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 1-2pm, with a memorial service to immediately follow at 2pm all at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave., Memphis, TN 38122. Burial will take place at a later date. The family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in lieu of flowers.
