Charles William “Bill” Manning, 85, of Memphis, passed away September 1, 2010. He was born on July 20, 1925 and was reared in Newhardt, Arkansas. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving in WW II and Korea and also retired from the Air Force Reserves as Lt. Col. He was a graduate of Washington University and was a retired banker. He was also a member of Faith Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Betty B. Manning. He is survived by son, Gary Manning (Jana) of Olive Branch, MS; daughter, Gail Nelson (Mike) of Cordova, TN; and four grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens – Poplar Avenue. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Faith Presbyterian Church in Germantown. Interment will follow in Forest Hill East Cemetery. The family requests memorials be directed to Faith Presbyterian Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
