CAROLYN JOYCE WALLACE CHURCHILL, born July 9, 1939 in Bonne Terre, Missouri to George Samuel Wallace, Jr. and Beulah Anita Simpson Wallace of Potosi, Missouri, went to her heavenly home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 13, 2022.
Carolyn is also survived by her close and dear siblings and their spouses. Her brother, David (Anita) Wallace, sisters Harriett (late Bob) Skaggs, Gail (Larry) Turner, Christine (Charles) Bay, and Diane (Dennis) Hill, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Carolyn was devoted to her children Stephen Wallace Churchill of Logan, Ohio; Christine Ann (John) Galbraith of Collierville, Tennessee; and Nancy Elizabeth (Scott) Bengtson of Memphis,Tennessee.
She attended Monticello College and Preparatory School in Godfrey, Illinois before her marriage to the late John Charles “Jack” Churchill of Galesburg, Illinois. They lived in various states before settling in Germantown, Tennessee. She made many dear and lifelong long friends wherever she went. The Birkner family being some of the dearest.
She was a loving and generous me-me to Angela (Ryan Driscoll) Churchill, Emily (Zak Ebbing) Galbraith, Shelby Nichols, Jacob Nichols, Hannah (Ben) Potts, Grant Bengtson, and Alyssa Bengtson. She was, sorrowfully, preceded in death by precious granddaughter Sarah Galbraith. She was blessed to have great grandchildren Jordan, Dylon, Fern and William. And glad to stand in as great godmother to Bella.
While living in St. Louis, Carolyn was a fashion merchandiser for J. C. Penney and in Germantown, Tennessee she was a manager for Talbots for over 25 years.
Carolyn has been a member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova, Tennessee for over 30 years. She greatly enjoyed her friends of the Brand Life Group, and more recently, serving the widows there and being the coordinator for the bereavement meals. She dearly loved her long time friends of her Wednesday Bible study group and was greatly blessed by her friends of the Bellevue Women’s ministry. She also cherished her friendships at her Germantown Baptist church “flexercise” class.
Carolyn loved her Savior, Jesus, and sharing her faith that it is only by His work on the cross that our death can be defeated; serving her family, her church family, her friends and coworkers; dressing in classic fashion and helping her customers. She enjoyed decorating, setting beautiful tables, hospitality, gardening, flower arranging, making greeting cards, and anything where she could use her artistic eye to create beauty in all our lives.
Flowers are appreciated but donations are preferred to her chosen ministry The Big Dog Street Ministry at https://sosmemphis.org/donate. Please place “Memorial for Carolyn Churchill” in the special instructions box.
