Carol Winfield, 56, died peacefully in her home in Piperton, TN on Sunday, October 10th. She is survived by her two daughters Lea, 23, and Keeley, 19 and her mother Mildred Owen. Born March 7th in Birmingham, AL, Carol moved to Memphis after studying at the University of Southern Alabama in Mobile, AL. She began working at LeBonheur Hospital where she discovered her love for helping others in the medical field. Carol worked at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital for 28 years where she made friends with everyone, including her patients. Carol had many good friends and everyone who knew her or met her loved her warm smile and sparkling personality. She enjoyed reading, music, dancing, and playing games, but her passion in life has been caring for others. She enjoyed helping plan special events for the V.A. and took great pride in her work. She had a special talent for being able to bring joy and light to every person she was involved with. Carol married Robert Winfield in July of 1982 and although they divorced almost 20 years later, they remained close friends. She found love again with Robert Baxter, who she spent the past 7 years with. Her death is a devastating tragedy to everyone who knew her, and she will be greatly missed. A memorial service for Carol will be held in the South East Ball Room at the Hilton Hotel, 939 Ridgelake Blvd. Memphis, TN 38122, on Tuesday, October 19th at 5:30 in the evening.
