Carol was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Ehardt, and her mother, Irma Tews.
She is survived by her husband, Fred; her two daughters Nicole McGuire (Ryan) of Rockport, Massachusetts and Katherine Baricos (Mark) of Memphis, TN; three cherished grandchildren, Jake, Julia, and Katie Baricos; brother, Fred Ehardt of Missoula, MT, and numerous extended family members.
Carol was born in Antigo, WI, on November 25, 1947. She moved during her elementary school years to Appleton, Wisconsin. After high school, she attended Colombia School of Nursing in Milwaukee, WI, where she graduated with a degree in nursing. She remained in Milwaukee after graduation and started her career. It was there that she met the love of her life, Fred. They were married on April 22, 1972, and shortly after, moved to Atlanta, GA. They settled in Chattanooga, TN where they lived 43 years and raised their two daughters. They eventually moved to Memphis, TN, in 2019, to be closer to their grandchildren.
Carol shined in her role as Mom, and she truly was an amazing and wonderful mother who was the foundation of the family. While raising her children, she worked with her husband Fred to help start and build their business. She and Fred were true partners and best friends in life. They loved spending time together traveling, going to movies and plays, eating out, and just enjoying each other’s company. When her daughters were married, Carol graciously welcomed her two sons-in-law, Ryan and Mark, into the family. She was overjoyed when she became “Grammy” to her three grandchildren, and she loved spoiling them. Whether on vacations, cheering them on at their sporting events, or hanging out at home, she adored her time with her grandkids.
Carol was a loyal friend. One of her favorite things to do was chat on the phone with old and new friends. She loved playing bridge, reading, and spending hours around the kitchen table with friends and family she treasured. She had an infectious laugh and zest for life that will carry on in those who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be announced in the near future. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the MaryEllen Locher Breast Center in Chattanooga, TN or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
