He graduated from Messick High School in 1956 where he met the love of his life Patricia A (Wells) Watkins. They were married in 1958. He served in the United States Air Force at Andrews Air Force base for four years. He retired from the Defense Depot Memphis in 1994 where he was a Management Analysis. He was a long time member of Berclair Baptist Church and had served as a Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher. He loved his Lord, Jesus Christ. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, and friend.
Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Patricia (Pat) Ann (Wells) Watkins. His parents, Buren F. Watkins and Elaine K. Watkins, one brother Ronald C. Watkins all of Memphis. Survivors include his daughter, Sandra (Sandy) Ann Lomax, his son William Keith Watkins (Debbie), five grandchildren, Michael Lomax, Anthony Watkins, Andrew Watkins, Addison Watkins, and Ashlynn Watkins, as well as eight great-grandchildren, Charlie Lomax, Natalie Lomax, Casey Lomax, Cody Lomax, Kolby Watkins, Katherine Watkins, Cooper Watkins, and Emmitt Watkins.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 13 from 1:00 PM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. Graveside committal service with military honors will immediately follow, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119.
