Brent was born on April 11, 1960 in Baton Rouge, LA to his parents, Jerry and Golda McBride. He married Sandra McBride in 1984 and graduated from LSU in 1986. They soon moved from Baton Rouge to Memphis for work and started a family.
After many years in sales and financial services, he found his true calling when he decided to pursue his passion for teaching. He eventually became the economics teacher at Arlington High School where he put his God-given talents to good use in forming the hearts and minds of his students. His larger-than-life personality (and stature) will leave a lasting impression on all those who had the opportunity to meet him.
Brent was also very active in the church and other ministries, coaching, teaching, and mentoring Internationals. His love for Jesus, gift of hospitality, and passion for helping others was something he passed down to his children.
His family is so grateful for the gift of the three years spent with him after his diagnosis. In that time, he was able to be present for the birth of two grandsons, continue teaching, and take some meaningful vacations with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra McBride; his son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Sally McBride; his daughter, Morgan McBride; two grandsons, Jack and Sullivan; his parents, Jerry and Golda McBride; and his brother, Lindsey McBride.
Brent’s celebration service will be this Friday, Aug 10 at Harvest Church, 3645 Forest Hill Irene Road, Germantown, TN. The visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2:30, with the service to follow at 3:00.
In keeping with Brent’s heart for International students, in lieu of flowers please make donations to V.I.S.A. (Visitor and International Student Alliance) Memphis (payable to “V.I.S.A. Memphis – CO;" PO Box 2044, Dept. 2300, Memphis, TN 38101).
