Brenda dedicated her life to Christ at an early at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A.C. Jackson. Later in life, she moved her membership to Deliverance Temple Ministries, under Pastor Gerald L. Hunt where she faithfully served on the usher board until her health prevented her.
Brenda was a proud graduate of Mitchell High School, class of 1970. Upon earning her high school diploma, Brenda embarked on an adventure with her best friend Betty to our nation’s capital, Washington D.C. where she continued her education working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. She would later return to Memphis and was employed by State Farm as a dedicated claims adjuster until her retirement in 2007.
Brenda had a passion for physical fitness and health. She was an avid walker, joining her group of friends 4 – 5 times a week, often starting before the sun rose at Polly Williams Park. She was also a proud member of her neighborhood community and enjoyed beautifying their street for each holiday with neighbors whose bond spanned more than four decades.
Brenda was united in matrimony to Lenoice White; their union was blessed with one son, Cameron Rashod and one daughter, Shannon Denise.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Mae and Arthur Brown, her brothers Arthur Jr., Clarence, and Willie Louis, and sisters Emma, Bessie, Annie Ruth and Sharon.
She leaves to fondly cherish and honor her memory her children, Cameron (Yoshino) of Windham, NH and Shannon (Michael) of Germantown, TN, three grandsons, Cullen, Solomon, and Cohen, and three sisters, Mary Oliver, Barbara Harbin, and Velinda Millon. Her memory also lives on in the hearts of two aunts, four nieces and five nephews, as well as a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation for Brenda will be held Friday, November 11, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, Tennessee 38119. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 11:30 AM at Forest Hill Midtown, 1661 Elvis Presley Blvd., Memphis, TN 38106.
