Brenda Hand Newman, 66, of Memphis, passed away August 26, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia Newman Flack, and a son, Downing “Bubba” Newman, III. Survivors include her husband, Downing “Sonny” Newman, Jr.; two brothers, Jimmy Hand, and Mike (Beth) Hand; and two grandchildren, Brandy Flack and Robert “Bobby” Flack, Jr. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Poplar Avenue, followed by the funeral service 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Friendship, TN.
