Billy was born on August 22, 1936 in Philadelphia, Mississippi to Reuben Edward and Macie Pearl (Duncan) Hodgins. He was a talented musician and singer. He traveled the country playing music with various artists. He spent time in Iceland after he was drafted in the Army. Billy enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. He even made baby quilts later in life after his mobility was limited. Billy loved to laugh and would often communicate through funny songs he would make up during a conversation.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rueben, his mother, Macie, his sisters, Lois Adean (Carpenter), Eurcel Ray.
He is survived by his six children, Stephanie Mills, Hayley Duffy, Terry Irvan (Jeff), Juliea Goodman, Billy Hodgins, Jr. (Shelley) and Bronson Morgan (Christina), his nine grandchildren Lauren, Brittney (Austin), Dylan, Zachary, Brantley, Briana (Ryan), Gabrielle, Cameron, Hannah and six great grandchildren.
The family would like to acknowledge his home healthcare workers; his grand daughter, Lauren Mills and for the last 4 years, Debra Rush. Their assistance with his care helped to extend his life many years.
A memorial service will be held on April 17, 2021 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m.
