Bettye Sue (Warren) Solomon, age 88, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Methodist Germantown Hospital. Bettye was born October 7, 1933, in Bolivar County, Mississippi, to Albert Edward Warren and Verna Douglas Warren.
She graduated from Boyle High School, Bolivar County. She was a member of Colonial Baptist Church, Memphis, for over 50 years. In conjunction with her church, she was very active with Women on Mission, taught vacation Bible school, and participated in most all of the committees. Before retirement, she worked as a part-time teller with Leader Federal and later Union Planters.
She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, William "Bill" Solomon, her parents, brothers, E. G., Douglas, Lars, J. A., Robert, and Owen Warren, and sister, Elsie Warren Gill and Essie Warren Scott.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Solomon Berglund (Ed); three grandchildren, Julie Dennis Prellwitz (Cory), Jess R Berglund, and Kelly C Berglund (Rhea); and five great-grandchildren, Samuel Frederick Prellwitz, Benjamin William Prellwitz, Roland Jules Berglund, Bela Jean Berglund, and Drexler Malone Berglund.
October 7 was Bettye's birthday. Family and friends are welcome to bring birthday cards to the funeral home for the visitation on Thursday, October 13 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, where the cards will be read beginning at 6:00 PM. Cards may be mailed to Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119, if unable to attend. Funeral services will occur on Friday, October 14 at 10:00 AM, also at the funeral home. Graveside committal services will take place in New Cleveland Cemetery, Cleveland, MS, at approximately 1:00 PM.
