Bedford was born on January 23, 1929 in Bartlett, Tennessee to the late Grady Etheridge and Willie Atkins Harris. He graduated from Bartlett High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. After his military service he began his 35 year career at Buckeye until he retired in 1984.
Mr. Etheridge and his wife moved to Olive Branch in 1990. He loved to build and do things to the home and in the yard. He built their huge deck in the back yard. liked to garden and work in the yard, and spend time with his family and grandchildren. Skeets & Teeny were longtime members of First Baptist Church of Olive Branch.
Along with his parents Skeets was preceded in death by his daughter Cindy Terrell.
Mr. Etheridge is survived his wife of 69 years Mary "Teeny" Maharrey Etheridge; children Vickie (Tom) Fox of Knoxville, Tennessee, Pam (Randell) Grimsley of Covington, Tennessee, and David (Erica) Etheridge of Memphis, Tennessee; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather on Monday, August 7 from nine o'clock in the morning until funeral services begin at ten o'clock all at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. Burial will follow in Memphis Memory Gardens. Louie Porter will lead all the services of the day.
