Anita Marie Cornell, age 89 of Memphis, TN passed away on Oct 18th, 2024. Anita was born on Dec 12, 1934, in Forrest City, AR to David and Bertha Parnell. Anita graduated from Messick High School and worked as a technician at St. Joseph Hospital before joining her husband at Cornell Tarpaulin Company. She worked side by side with her husband for 35 years.
Anita was an avid genealogist, which led to her becoming a docent at several historical Memphis homes, including the Hunt-Phelan home, and the Woodruff-Fontaine house. She was a dedicated member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and United Daughters of the Confederacy.
She was a beloved member of a closeknit family, survived by her son, Steve Cornell and his wife Wendy, and her two daughters, Dana Richardson and her husband Dave, and Julie Sacco and her husband Chris: seven grandchildren, Melissa, James, Anthony, Amanda, Matthew, Samuel, and Camila, as well as, three great grandchildren, Alli, Bryan, and Ava.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct 23, 2024, from 9:30 am until 10:00 am with services immediately following at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119. The interment will be held on Wednesday, Oct 23, 2024, at Memorial Park Southwoods, 5485 Hacks Cross Rd, Memphis, TN 38125.
