Alfred McDowell

Alfred accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Wall Hill Church of Christ under the leadership of Caty Lock.  Alfred came out of school early to work and make a living.  He was employed with the Horn Lake Missionary Baptist Church Pantry & Clothes Closet from 1980 to 1983.  In later years, he joined with Mr. A.C. Jones and worked at Columbus Baptist Church for several years.  Alfred stay busy and would help those who needed him.

Alfred departed this life on November 29, 2024.  He was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth McDowell, Anthony McDowell and Al McDowell; two sisters, Dianne McDowell and Bessie Mae McDowell.  Alfred leaves to cherish his memories three brothers, John Dewitt McDowell, Jr., Norman Lee McDowell and Fentress Lee McDowell; two sisters, Jewel Dean McDowell Traywick and Maggie Teresa McDowell, all of Memphis, TN.  He also leaves Clyde D. McDowell and Della B of Chicago, IL; Mandy and Vandy of Buffalo, NY and a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends.

A visitation for Alfred will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119. A funeral service will occur Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 11:30 AM. A committal service will follow at Pleasant Rest Memorial Gardens 6235 Raleigh Millington Rd. Millington, TN 38053.
