David Brown was awarded his eternal membership to Our Heavenly Father’s Golf & Country Club on February 10th. He joins his wife (Sally) who preceded him by five years. Prior to receiving this invitation, Dave spent the majority of his retired years on Meeker’s nine-hole course and shared his joy of the game with his three children and grandchildren. He was also a frequent customer at the bowling alley with Sally and enjoyed teaching his boys (Troy and Darren) everything he knew about hunting and fishing…their daughter (Tina), not so much.
The two moved their family to Meeker in 1977 from Draper Utah and grew their roots while working for Grace LLP Colowyo Mine, which later became Kennecott Energy and subsequently Rio Tinto Energy, for 42 years. The children were raised in Meeker and all are alumni of Meeker High School.
Dave is survived by his children Troy (Lina Remezaite) of Vienne France, Darren (Danna) of Meeker, Tina Mott (Dave) of Vacaville CA; his eight grandchildren (Mason, Taura, Evelina, Laura, Colton, Jordan, Brewster and Brady) and one great grandson (Deakon); his sister Susan Swaap of Cedar City UT, brothers Joseph and Tyler of Grand Junction CO and John Brown of American Fork UT.
The children invite those who knew Dave to a graveside ceremony on February 17th at 12pm at Highland Cemetery in Meeker. A reception will follow at the County Extension Building. Rumor has it, all of his golf shots will be long and straight from now on.
