Born on July 3, 1940, in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Gonnoud) Reiner.
Robert graduated from Paul D. Schreiber High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Essex. Robert was employed with various jobs, including working for the Town of North Hempstead, salesman for Barker Chemical Co. and delivering mail for the U.S. Post Office. He was a former member of the Barker Lions Club, serving as president from 1976-77, a member of the Middleport Mason’s Cataract Lodge 295, He was a coach for the Barker Little League and Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 26 in Barker and was a avid supporter of Tri-Town Women’s Softball League and President and Founder of Jocko Travel Club.
Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, traveling and spending time with his entire family, especially at the annual family trek to Plevna, Ontario.
It did not matter how many places he traveled, where he lived, what kind of car he drove or how many fish he caught, what did matter were the friends he made along the away and how much he valued his family and friends, making each one feel special. Time with his loved ones is what he enjoyed the most.
He is survived by three children, Denise (Barry Pawlowski) Albone of Middleport, Scott (Brenda) Reiner of Middleport, Michelle (Keith) Ferrigno of Gates, nine grandchildren, Cassidy and Coby Albone, Brandon Dellario, Tanner and Brook Monnin, Aidan and Keara Farrell and Joel and Jenna Ferrigno. A son –in-law, Dennis “DJ’ Monnin of Medina. Three brothers, Dennis Reiner of Westbury, NY, Richard Reiner of Las Vegas, NV and Charles (Shara) Reiner of San Diego, CA, also, several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by a daughter Kellie Monnin, his former wife, Barbara and a brother, William Reiner.
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Bates & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina, NY, from 5-8PM. A graveside committal will be held on Friday, 11:00 AM at the Boxwood Cemetery, Medina, with the Rev. Daniel J. Fawls officiating.
