3/10/1932 - 6/29/2023
Wilma Evelyn Knowles was born in 1932 in San Jose, CA along with her twin brother Walter, the youngest of 9 children. The family eventually settled in the beautiful town of Pacific Grove, CA, where Wilma grew up, graduated from High School, and met her first husband Keith. Although Wilma moved a lot as an adult and lived many places, Pacific Grove had a special place in her heart and she always considered it home.
In 1973 Wilma married Paul Knowles, and eventually returned to the West Coast from the Midwest, first to Los Angeles and then finally to Medford, Oregon where she lived for the rest of her life. She is survived by her husband Paul, children Loren (Sheryl), Arlene, Janet (Mark) and stepchildren Pat (Michele), Liz (Brent), Tim (Sheryl), and Nancy, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wilma had a deep love and connection with her family. She made great efforts to stay in touch with all of her family, but she was never happier than when she was with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Wilma loved flowers, hummingbirds, butterflies, books, art, and music. Until her sight failed she artfully created many incredible cross stitch pieces for loved ones, and dabbled in painting and watercolors. She found peace at the ocean and Crater Lake, where she visited as often as she could.
Over the years Wilma gave much time and energy to her church, The Medford United Congregation of Christ, and also volunteered driving for Call-a Ride.
A shining example of the good in this world, Wilma believed in love and respect for all and showed this every day in the way she lived her life. She will be missed by all who knew her.
