Beloved son, brother, uncle, great uncle, and friend, Walter R. Cummings passed on October 6th, after a long battle with prostate cancer. Born into a creative family in 1957, Walter grew up in southern California surrounded by art, drama and music during the 1960's. Walter began playing guitar and harmonica in his teens. He wrote songs filled with pain, joy, passion, and irony. He knew and loved 1970'music from rock to blues and enjoyed jamming with his siblings, especially his late brother Boris.
Walter was kind, compassionate, generous, and dedicated to his faith as a born again Christian. He spent the last four years of his life at Avamere Health Services. He loved the staff there and considered them his friends. He also felt warmth and gratitude for his many physicians. The family would like to thank all of his doctors, nurses, and caregivers over the years for their kindness. Thanks to the palliative care staff at both Providence and Asante, as well as the Asante Hospice team. Walter loved his family, his late 15-year partner, Deby, and many friends, including Margie at Picadilly, Deacon Ron, and Evelyn.
Walter is survived by his mother, Helene, his sisters Karen (John), Faye (Paul), his brother Nur Nur, his nephew Wes, his niece Dawn, their children, and other dear relatives from cousins to half-siblings he knew of but was not in touch with.
His four favorite things in life were God, people, music, and food. Walter's two favorite prayers were The Lord's Prayer and the Baha'i prayer The Remover of Difficulties. Rest in Peace, Dear Walt. Love you always.
